Not everyone may have the time or physical energy be a volunteer, but we can all support the efforts to make the Westport and surrounding area a place where our friends and neighbours can continue to live safely and independently in their own homes as they age, with meaningful connections to the community.

Start-up costs for our first year of operation have been partially covered by grants from the federal government and the Westport Lions Club. We have no guarantee, however, that those grants will continue, and they do not cover all our costs. To maintain and expand our services in the Westport and surrounding area, we need YOUR help and financial assistance. All donations are used for the direct benefit of our senior friends and neighbours.

WSL’s expenses include: 

• Administrative expenses for record keeping and filing as required for a registered not-for-profit corporation,
• liability insurance for our directors and volunteers,
• website design and operating costs, computer equipment, telephone and internet, postage, printing, etc.
• office equipment and supplies
• event costs, including rental of workshop and meeting space, refreshments, promotional materials, speaker expenses, etc.
• reimbursement of mileage costs for our volunteer drivers, if funding permits
• creation of a contingency fund to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
