WHO WE ARE
Our Mission Statement
Westport Senior Living is committed to enhancing the lives of seniors. We aim to be an information hub for older adults about resources and services through providing educational and social events.
WHAT WE DO
Our goal is to coordinate and expand access to free/affordable services for seniors, including transportation, meals, help in and around the home, technology support, as well as social and educational activities.
WSL and our volunteers work in partnership with existing organizations to deliver their services and, as well as provide new and additional services that are not otherwise available. We endeavour to be an immediate and comprehensive source of information for seniors.
Our funding comes from grants, donations and, in some cases, fees for service.

HOW DID WE GET HERE
Shared concerns about the quality of life of area seniors brought together a small local group in early 2022. Approximately four hundred local seniors were informally surveyed, and a strong desire to stay in their homes was documented. The group began to research what it could do to help seniors in our community age comfortably and safely in their own homes. An inventory of existing services was made and a number of desirable additional services for seniors identified.
In 2023 this group, known as Westport Senior Living Discovery Association, was awarded a grant by the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program. This grant allowed the group to build relationships with local agencies, service providers and municipal governments to explore opportunities for additional services and become an active and productive community organization.
We developed a new name for the group “Westport Senior Living” and registered as a Incorporated non-profit organization. We developed a roster of volunteers based on their interests and their areas of experience. We developed a Westport Coffee Club for seniors, which is held twice weekly.
A second New Horizons grant for 2024 provided the program funding for workshop series on Digital Literacy and Healthy Aging as well as host of numerous other educational workshops and social events relevant to older adults. Funds also assisted in the development of this website which provides up to date information about WSL.
